Class II Designated Chemical Substances under the PRTR Law are substances with hazardous properties such as carcinogenicity, reproductive toxicity, or chronic toxicity, or environmental hazard properties including persistence and bioaccumulation, but with typically smaller annual release volumes compared to Class I Designated Chemical Substances. The PRTR Law does not require annual PRTR release reporting for these substances, but requires relevant businesses to provide Safety Data Sheets (SDS) to employees and downstream users to ensure effective communication of chemical information.
Compliance Obligations
Businesses dealing with Class II Designated Chemical Substances are not required to submit annual PRTR release reports. However, they must provide Safety Data Sheets (SDS) to employees and downstream users as required by the PRTR Law, disclosing hazard information and safe handling instructions for the substances.
Not subject to Class 2 designated chemical substance compliance obligations under PRTP.
