Malaysia's List of Classified Substances is primarily established under the Occupational Safety and Health (Classification, Labelling and Safety Data Sheet of Hazardous Chemicals) Regulations 2013 (CLASS Regulations) and is listed in Part I of the Industry Code of Practice on Chemicals Classification and Hazard Communication (CLASS ICOP). This list includes the substance name, CAS number, classification, and relevant labeling elements for each corresponding substance.
Compliance Obligations
The listed substances must be classified in accordance with the list. The classifications specified in the list serve as the minimum classification standards for chemicals.
If a primary supplier possesses data or other information indicating additional hazard classes or more severe categories compared to the minimum classification, the supplier may classify the substance accordingly.
However, if a supplier's classification excludes any hazard class or adopts a less severe category than the minimum classification, the supplier is required to submit relevant information and data supporting such classification to the Director General of the Department of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH).
Self classification is acceptable according to CLASS ICOP.
