The EU RoHS List is set out in Annex II of the EU Directive 2011/65/EU (RoHS 2) and its amending Directives. It identifies ten hazardous substances prohibited in Electrical and Electronic Equipment (EEE), including lead, mercury, cadmium, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyls (PBB), polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDE), and four phthalates (DEHP, BBP, DBP, DIBP).
Compliance Obligations
For substances included in the EU RoHS List used in covered EEE (e.g., large household appliances, IT equipment, lighting), manufacturers must ensure that their concentration by weight in any homogeneous material does not exceed the Maximum Concentration Limits, that is 0.01% for Cadmium and 0.1% for other nine substances. To demonstrate compliance, manufacturers must prepare detailed technical documentation, affix the CE marking, sign the EU Declaration of Conformity, and strictly manage the supply chain to ensure all materials meet RoHS requirements
As the list contains substance groups, more information is required to verify the regulatory status of the substance. If the substance is verified as not on the Restriction List, they are not subject to restriction requirements. Welcome to contact REACH24H for more details.
