The EU Ozone-Depleting Substances (ODS) List is set out in Annex I and II of Regulation (EU) No 2024/590 of the European Parliament and of the Council on substances that deplete the ozone layer. Aligned with the Montreal Protocol, this list covers chemicals such as chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs), halons, carbon tetrachloride, methyl chloroform, and hydrochlorofluorocarbons (HCFCs) that damage the stratospheric ozone layer.
Compliance Obligations
Substances included in the EU ODS List (whether on their own, in mixtures, or in products/equipment) are generally prohibited from being produced, placed on the market, or used within the EU. Certain derogations for feedstock, processing agent, laboratory uses are provided.
