Australian Inventory of Industrial Chemicals (AIIC)

The Australian Inventory of Industrial Chemicals (AIIC) includes around 40,000 chemiclas that are being manufactured or imported into Australia for industrial use. AIIC contains information about the industrial chemical identity, including information on CAS numbers, CAS names, or AICIS-approved chemical names, and regulatory obligations relating to importing and manufacturing industrial chemicals in Australia. AIIC includes both public substances and confidential substances.

Substances listed in the Australian Industrial Chemicals Inventory (AIIC) may be directly manufactured or imported, provided the manufacturers or importers are registered with the AICIS Business Services Portal. If regulatory obligations or restrictions are specified for the substance in the AIIC—such as Defined Scope of Assessment, Conditions of Introduction or Use, Specific Information Requirements, or other statutory obligations—the manufacturers or importerers shall verify and comply with each requirement before the manufactuer or import.

Not listed in the Australian Industrial Chemicals Inventory (AIIC), their manufacturers or importers shall first apply to AICIS to verify whether the substance is confidentially listed in the AIIC. If the substance is confirmed not to be confidential, the manufacturer or importer shall categorize the substance's manudacture/import activity and determine its chemical introduction category.
